Artist goes to ground as exhibition looms.

Well, not really. Just gone downstairs. Having great support upstairs – meals, dishes, tea & coffee. Just the usual really…. The studio has a chaotic look, but it’s humming.

A dear friend, experienced artist and wise owl (yes, all rolled into one) gave me a super tip about stacking panels like this. That was…..to use baking paper to separate the surfaces.

Not much room to rest any weary bones (belonging to passers by).

Leaning space at a premium too.

Even did some vacuuming this morning in case of dust floating into final glazes.

Three new paintings at the last minute. All the photography has been done (thanks to one of my big brothers and his fantastic new macro lens) so that’s a minor hitch to attend to later. Here are two of the three.

The photos are roughies and I may even do a bit more painting on these. You know the feeling? But glazing, framing and edges to do!

Saturday, Sunday and Monday left before the exhibition is hung! It’s OK. It’s all in the name of

  1. Philippa, I can see and feel all your enthusiasm as you do the final prep for your upcoming show. This is so very exciting! You never seem to lose your lovely sense of humor even at the stressful last few days right before the event. Love that new phrase too – “Break a paintbrush!”

    1. Thanks Patricia! It is a cute one isn’t it? I have actually broken a few, but not on opening nights! I might still have some panic in me if I don’t finish the framing on Monday. Can catch up on sleep on Tuesday night…but it is almost 45 years since I worked late into the night on an art project! will be a shock to the system.

      1. Philippa, you make me laugh!! It sounds like you have a good plan of action lined up! I’m sure all will be done in-time. Thinking of you and sending good wishes!!

    1. Thanks V! your support with a smile is terrific. I thought of you yesterday when I painted in a little dog! It is a fluffy white pyjama bag thing. will post later.
