More Brighton Jetty Classic Sculptures

Last week’s walk along the Esplanade at Brighton to see the sculptures yielded plenty of images. Here’s another selection, a little different from my previous post.

Philippa Robert, Adelaide South Australia
Hovering man, Greg Johns.
This sculpture reminded me of Antony Gormley’s figures in the landscape. Lying on these rocks, it was difficult to appreciate fully but its slender form was a welcome change from the many lacy steel works.

Life Savers on Patrol, Matthew Shute

Petal Breeze, Jason Aslin
This was one of the kinetic sculptures in the playground adjacent to the Life Saving Club.

Children had made good use of bubble wrap and plastic lids.

Bar-B-Queue, Keith Banfield
This one raised many smiles.

Sphere 2012, Rod Manning
This one was difficult to resist. The life-size figure had tremendous visual power. Many people climbed on the rocks to see the front view…..I was one of them. And the front view was the rear view!

Little Boxes, Jacky Spencer
As well as an allusion to beachfront architecture, this piece offered a chance to wield a bit of chalk or a texta.

Nothing sculptor's note
The sculptor’s note says it all. A very low asking price, but perhaps just as well. I think the dilemma is that ‘Nothing’ is priceless or un-priceable. This was one of about 25 works that sold.

    1. Hope so. There was more variety in this second bunch! I didn’t curate the first lot really, just followed my walking path. (Desperate to post a blog in case I fell off the virtual universe).
